Counterfeit items sold: MACH3 TURBO RAZOR BLADES
I tried to submit a message to your guest book on Fakeblades.com using the contact form but was unable to. (“ERROR 404″ message – “Object cannot be found”)
I’m sending my message to you this way as I would like to thank you for your time and effort in warning others.
I could not fit all the info in one ebay message so am sending it in two parts.
Part II of my message!
After having bid on Mach 3 razor blades for what I thought was a great price, I came across your article and immediately had my suspicions about the blades I had just bid on. Although the vendor has 100% positive feedback, after checking some of his feedback I came across a comment that the razors did not have the colored lubrication strip.
I contacted the buyer who had made that comment, my suspicions were confirmed by their reply that after using the blades they believed they were indeed fake.
I was lucky and did not end up purchasing these counterfeit razor blades because 1) I read your article and 2) I was outbid.
Thank you for posting this information!
I shall send a link to your website to warn the others who bid on the same blades that I did.

item: 40 new gillette mach 3 blades
I just purchased 40 new, “Genuine” Gillette Mach 3 Blades from Ebay Seller sdlflyer. I have purchased blades from other sellers in the past and have never had a problem. This time unfortunately, the blades were definitely counterfeit. The cartridge cases were falling apart as I pulled them out of the boxes; the lubrication strips were not correct, and the blades themselves did not feel as sharp on my finger as the Genuine Blades from the department store I compared them to. I decided to call Gillette just to see if they could confirm them as counterfeit and based upon my description the representative figured them to be, but said they would have to be examined under a microscope to tell for certain. It doesn’t take a microscope to tell these are counterfeit blades. I have received a refund, but am out all the shipping costs, which are high – I beleive to cover the costs of returns and still make profit.

Thanks for the informative website. I was searching for cheaper blades, and deals too good to be true on ebay. Lucky I’m cautious to do some research before buying. I guess I won’t buy any razor blades on ebay anymore.

I wish I had known about your website before sending blades back and getting refund from ‘vid_games’ (no longer registered). As others have said, go refund but out of pocket for high postage costs. When I bought new blades from shop I did some of my own comparison, most notably were dullness in color of blades and the middle blade not straight. The blades scratched my face each time I used one, who knows what hygiene levels are used in these fake blades!

After finding and using your website, it does seem that alot of people are getting burned by counterfeit blades.
Still, I have decided to take a gamble with this seller since their feedback on the blades has been impecable. I quote “Blades seems originals not replicates, works fine, fast shipping, good seller.” I will keep your website updated after I recieve & verify them…..hopefully there is someone out there with real blades at a decent price.
I can be contacted at toughsox@aol.com any time.
Sincerely
Anthony

I purchased bladed from source-imports on Ebay and was not sure about the quality…after coming across this site almost by accident, I checked and sure enough…they are fakes. Again it was a situatio where I left feedback BEFORE trying the blades.

I purchased a carton of 10 boxes of 4 Mach3 Turbo blades from eBayer Savonstuff99, who had 100% rating with 66 sales. The blades and boxes looked like the real thing, although they were marked for European sales and indicated they were made by Nemeko for Gillette– once I tried one, I knew right away because they were painfully dull. After numerous e-mails I was (aprehensively) promised a full refund, but only received a partial. Afterwhich I submitted negative feedback (knowing she would also retaliate). She is offering to refund all (again) if I retract my feedback. She claims it was a mistake, but why she even had counterfeit blades to begin with is suspicious. I’m curious if the local police or Postal Inspector would pursue…. At any rate, to me it’s worth one hit to expose a suspicious seller.

Counterfeit item – Gillette Mach 3 blades
Purchased a set of 40 blades from Top_oz_trader and it stated they were 100% genuine in the ad. I was expecting, that buying this sort of quantity would yield a discount over the normal(inflated) price paid in a retail store.
Turns out these blades are definately fake – the packaging it quite good, but the blades and even the clear plastic holder and clearly not the real thing. They performed terrible – worse than my worn out, 3 month old genuine Mach3 blade!!
The seller agreed to refund my money when I complained, I left neutral feedback saying they just aren’t of equivalent performance to what you buy in a store.
From what I can see here though, they must be fakes. I have kept a box for myself, I’ll contact Gillette and see if they are interested in viewing them, most likely not. The thing that annoyed me is I received neutral feedback from the seller – for no reason other than the fact that I left neutral for him!
Avoid the bargain ebay fake gillette blades!

ebay user tillson206 sells fake gillette fusion blades by the 8 pack that will cut your skin, leave a rash and cost you twelve quid for the priviledge 99% positive feedback because, like me, most people see an ‘authentic’ packaging and leave positive feedback. Come shaving time it’s too late.
AVOID or cut your face to bits…The choice is yours.

OK, as a followup to my Sept 8th posting here, the blades I recieved from nctrader1999 arrrived within a couple of days. Shipping was damn fast!! I immediately went and compared them to the pictures linked here at fakeblades…there are my wife and I looking everything over from the markings to the alignment, to the laser coding on the packaging…..everything looked right on the money. The proof, as the saying goes, is in the pudding. We were packed and ready to head on vacation with the family and took 4 packs with us…..myself, my wife and 2 of our 6 kids (the only ones that shave) Lo & behold…..these ARE the real deal. Im on the 3rd week of daily use on my 1st blade from nctrader and it wasnt until last night that my wife reminded me that I hadnt left feedback, nor updated you people here at fakeblades.
So, there it is, my testimony….I dont know this person, never heard of this person, Im not related to him, but I will say this…..next time Im looking for blades, Im not searching on Ebay for anyone BUT this guy.
Once again, anyone here wanting to confirm or ask anything about my experiance with NCTRADER1999 on ebay, you can email be any time at toughsox@aol.com.
Lastly, I do want to thank the ROBMOOR that runs this site as without it, 2 people whom I did consider buying blades from, showed up after the fact as having fake blades for sale. Thank you very much for all the info you have linked and posted here.

Hello! You have a very good Web site in the works. I stumbled across it because, as you may have guessed, I bought some Gillette blades on eBay which I’m sure are fake. I doubt the seller realizes this, and I’m going to respond amicably to request a refund, but I wanted to contact you first with the information to see if you had any thoughts. I opened one package (and all 5 packages I purchased appear identical) and have shaved with two of the fake blades now; if you are interested I would be willing to send you a package for analysis. I’m also thinking about contacting Gillette and learning their thoughts on the issue. Here’s the situation so far:
I bought a few packs of Fusion Power blades from what appeared to be a genuine auction. I knew there was a possibility they could be counterfeit, so I examined them upon arrival. I have one genuine blade and one genuine orange tray, but do not at present have a genuine package for comparison. In any case, I first went over the packaging of one of the eBay packs. The package looks genuine, except for 3 typos, all of which I find glaring: the phrase “Palents pending” in the lower left corner, and “Operalions North America” and “Registered Trademar k” in the lower right corner. Now, assuming these are Chinese knockoffs, it is perfectly reasonable to assume that a package’s text was retyped by someone unfamiliar with the English alphabet, and would overlook the subtleties between certain letters, such as “t” and “l”. Honestly, I wouldn’t be able to tell the difference between certain Kanji characters because I’m not familiar with them, so I would assume I’d make the mistake of missing a small mark or two when attempting to transcribe the characters and end up replacing one with another; it appears in this case that someone did the opposite and wrote “Palents” and “Operalions” instead of “Patents” and “Operations”. And, of course, the last time I checked our word “trademark” does not have a space between the “k” and the rest of the word! All of this points towards a pretty good copy of an original product’s packaging with a few minor typos that wouldn’t pass the genuine manufacturer’s quality control (or marketing department, to be accurate.)
Now, on to the actual product. Other than some differences in molding and color, the orange trays are functionally identical. There’s a difference if you compare them side-by-side (the genuine one is more transparent with a lighter shade of orange), but if you mixed them up I probably couldn’t tell which is which (not that this part is important.) Comparing the blades, the colors are a little different (the fake one has slightly more dull orange and gray coloring) and the “Gillette” molding on the fake one is a little less pronounced. The orange metal over the fake blades’ single trimmer on the back has a very shiny coating compared to the real one. The fake blade’s rear trimmer is not precisely mounted and visibly sticks out at an angle. The 5 main blades are different between the two: the fake ones have different markings (those “dots” along the blade) and they appear to be cut at a different angle so the “edge” is larger. The blades on the genuine cartridge appear to be evenly spaced and mounted at the same angle, which is not the case with the fake cartridge (although this is very hard to discern.) Finally, we come to the lubricating strip. This is where I think the counterfeiters had no idea what the strip was made of and just came up with something that looked similar (but functioned not at all) to the real thing. The real Gillette lubricating strip on Fusion and Mach 3 cartridges appears to be a white, porous solid (it reminds me of chalk) with a channel down the middle containing a blue material that produces significant lubrication upon contact with moisture and wears away unevenly with use (at least in my experience.) The fake strip is completely different: it appears to be a white strip, maybe plastic, stuck to the rest of the cartridge with a thin blue film painted on.
Next, I’ll describe the actual use of the blades, but first I must explain how I shave. I have ingrown hairs, razor bumps, pseudofolliculitis barbae, whatever you want to call the condition. Certain hairs, typically the ones on my cheeks and under my chin, grow at such a shallow angle that when cut to a level underneath the skin they do not reemerge upon growth and grow back down into my skin. The solution I have is to not shave close, and to only shave every other day since my hair does not even grow quickly enough to shave daily. I shave in the direction the hair grows, not against it, which always leaves me some stubble, and I shave three days a week, typically Monday, Wednesday, and Friday (although it depends on if I am going to work or not; I won’t shave if I’m not going out anywhere.) I’ve never really kept track of how long a blade lasts me because I don’t use them that often; I did, however, track how long the last genuine blade lasted before I got the ones from eBay. I replaced it after 7 shaves, which meant just over 2 weeks; I could’ve used it one more time before it became too uncomfortable, and if the blades were cheaper I would more likely be replacing them after the 6th shave, so a genuine blade gave me a comfortable shave for two weeks. I used up one fake blade, and started another, and the first one was used for 6 shaves but really wasn’t comfortable even from the beginning.
A genuine blade is very smooth and free of resistance during shaving, then gradually becomes dull. The fake blade was a little rough from the beginning, and got worse from there. It didn’t provide a terrible experience, but it was disappointing because it didn’t even start off great. By the end of the 2-week period the blade was basically tearing at my hair. If I wanted that feeling I’d go back to using an electric shaver. Now while I say the fake cartridge wasn’t terrible, keep in mind I also stated that on most of my face I don’t shave very close to begin with. Above my upper lip, on my cheekbones and around my eyes, and between my eyebrows, however, I do want a close shave. This is where it is very obvious the blades are fake: they just can’t shave down to the skin like a genuine cartridge can! The single rear-mounted trimmer is especially worthless; it appears to be mounted in such a way that it just can’t get close enough to the skin to shave properly. Regardless, with either the main blades or the trimmer of the fake cartridge I have to press hard in order to get close, which of course causes that “ripping at the hair” feeling and causes numerous nicks and cuts. This is the only time when it really “feels” that the cartridge is counterfeit. Finally, we get back to the lubricating strip. I never really thought much of the strip, but after doing without it I can tell you that it’s sorely missed. The strip on the counterfeit cartridge provides NO lubrication whatsoever, and it just adds to the whole feeling of a rough shave. Whereas the real strip will gradually lose the blue lubricating material with use, and unevenly so (it appears that it is getting torn out by the rough hairs of my chin), the substance on the fake strip is literally just painted on and just sort of rubs away, again without providing lubrication. Note that, like I said earlier, the real strip consists of the blue substance in a channel running along the hard white material; it is not simply painted on.
Despite all of the differences in appearance, I have to say the worst part about the blades is that they can’t offer a close shave and the lubrication strip is nonexistent. If someone was selling “Gillette-compatible” cartridges at a fair price, that would be one thing; people would know that they are getting an inferior, non-OEM product (since it would have to be specified in the description) but the price would justify it. In this case, non-OEM products are being passed off as genuine articles, in genuine-looking packaging, with no attempt to alert the consumer that they are not genuine; this makes them counterfeit. As I stated at the beginning of the e-mail, I have yet to contact the seller; I am awaiting your thoughts on the issue. I can produce digital photographs of the blades and stated differences, if desired, although I do not have a macro lens so the resultant images will not be as illustrative as I would like them to be. I can send you either an unopened package, or the opened one with a used and unused blade for comparison. Please feel free to use any of the information I send to you, including the full texts of e-mails, on your site, although I would prefer it if you kept me anonymous. I’m going to compose an e-mail to the eBay seller using much of the description above, however as previously stated I will not send it until I hear from you; I would like a refund from him and have to determine if I can send back, say, 3 of the 5 packs, and if I will accept a partial refund for not being able to send back everything (again, I’m willing to send one to you and one to Gillette if they request it, and I’ve already opened one.)
Thank you for reading my e-mail, and I would greatly appreciate it if you could respond!

I sold some razor blades on ebay and to my dismay the buyer accused me of selling fake blades and sited your website. That fact is, these blades came from a legitimate source and are in fact authentic. I made less than $1.00 on the sale and had to deal with this over the next week with this buyer. They didn’t point out any problems with the blades other than telling me they felt dull. I opened a package and compared them with the findings on your site. The site is a great resource and well intentioned however it was misunderstood this time. I think if you have people visting your site and they are concerned as they should be from your research, they should just stay away from ebay for name brand items.

I bought from a seller on ebay called Abrahim Omar who sold me fake blades and then would not reply to my emails; so beware.
He trades as ‘top oz trader’.
Do not be sucked in by him as I was.
I am now trying to get through to him through paypal but it’s a labourious process.

eBay has a new system for feedback, but I’m not sure if it helps or not. Apparently you can give the seller feedback on a number of categories anonymously, so the seller can never retaliate because they don’t know who left them feedback, especially if they sell on lots of auctions.
I got ripped off a while back too, but I didn’t realize this was of epidemic proportions. This really helps people, and maybe we can also start mentioning this site in the ebay’s feedback. Give the seller pos feedback, wait for them to do the same, and then you can go and reply to that feedback, using big bold letters, like “NEG”, and then put a link to this site.
I’m creating a website that has to do with companies and other people that rip others off knowingly, and plan to have it up and running soon. It’s called SHADYBUSINESSES.INFO.
Has anyone had any luck with legitimate sellers? Maybe we could have someone post a few of those here. I know one person posted a seller who he got good blades from, and I sent the seller an email. Maybe there are more?
What do you all think?

BizBuyStore,
Stay away from brand names?
Please elaborate, as your message was not clear to me. People are getting ripped off (including myself), and they have a right to let others know.
If you get blades that are questionable, and you know that people have complained before, why do you keep selling them knowing this? Isn’t is inevitable that there is a change you’re going to go through this again?

It makes me sick that ebay allows this shit to go on with their full knowledge, and acceptance. I guess the money that they make off of each sale is just too good. Why hasn’t US Customs, Homeland Security, and or The US Postal service gone after the people and ebay who perpetrate this fraud? I’ve been ripped off 3 times out of 5 purchases on ebay for blades, I just call my credit card company and dispute the charge, that way the seller not only loses their product ( I do not keep the blades, they’re worthless for shaving) but they have to pay the blood money to ebay. I got burned for the thrid time last week, well I notified ebay (hahahaaha) that was a waste of my time, the seller saveonstuff is still active as of today (10-23-07) with 22 auctions for counterfeit blades on ebay, not tell me why is not ebay criminally liable for allowing this to go on even after being told that the seller was selling fakes? Oh yeah, I forgot ebay makes their blood money no matter what, well there’s a special place in hell for meg whitman and her minions. As an afterthought, I must confess, you know and I know that these type of products can only be sold this cheaply on ebay for one of two reasons: A) they’re hot as in they fell off the truck. or B) they’re fake, couterfeit, bootlegge, spurious, etc. so I guess My point is I never minded buying hot sh*t off ebay, because I know probably half the items on there are hot, it’e just when I get ripped off that I take exception to ebay’s blind eye policy. Oh well “Caveat, emptor” as the great philosopher Greg Brady said once.

post script to all inclined to contact Proctor and Gambale in regard to fake Gillette Mach III blades:Don’t even bother I wasted 25 minutes dealing with a retard of a customer service person who only seemed content to remind me that P @ G would not refund any money towards fake blades(D’uh no kidding, you mean you won’t back up couterfeit product that you didn’t manufacuture, lord have mercy), after explaining to this halfwit that I wasn’t looking for a refund, but would hope that they had security people out there looking for there fake products. You all remember when the market got flooded with all those ugly Oakly sunglasses, and Oakly went nuclear on everybody they could lay their hands on, jail time for everybody, down the line. P&G said maybe someone would get back to me in the next two weeks, but don’t hold my breath, oh and could I hang on to those blades from ebay til I heard back from them.Yes, pleases let me do your job for you, and thank you for wasting my time, whatever. God bless corporate america, with this kind of customer service, no wonder everyone steals their product. What a company, so I will wait 2 weeks and then give them to the postal inspertors, and with that I will wipe my hands of this ebay nightmare. So to sum it up don’t bother contacting Gillette, or P&G unless you have unused cell minutes you want to burn up before rollover.

I got took too by eBay seller jodi_daley (jefdaley@nb.sympatico.ca) this seller had multiple auctions for these products when I purchased. I attempted to contact the seller but my efforts were ignored (Surprise!). This seller is based in Canada, be careful with out of country as this limits your options for recourse (if any). I will be researching whether or not the Canadian Post has mail fraud laws like the USPS as the seller knowingly sold counterfeits. I know that it’s a loss but I do feel a responsibility to others to do something as opposed to nothing. I don’t care if I am successful or not as long as I do something that helps send a message. As a result of this experience, I guess I will return to the retail market for these products where I can knowingly be ripped off for the very overpriced real thing, at least their more likely to respond if you have a problem.

Purchased 8 Fusion baldes from E bay vendor The_shop_87 from Wembley London England. Sold as genuine so have actioned claim thru PayPal. Unfortunately usual story – poor Chinese copies (not that there are any good Chinese copies!!) blades blunt and set at wrong angles, lubricating strip incomplete and of course – No serial numbers !! I have’nt used them yet but been there before 12 months ago with Mach 3 also thru E bay. What amazes me is how come so many people get fooled by the copies and leave positive feedback ??? Please to see the fakeblades site is up and running – Keep up the good work !!!!

Tony, I totally agree. How can so many people leave positive feedback about this crap thats being sold? I’ve just been stitched up on 5 packs of 4 Mach 3 Turbos for £20.49 and whilst the packaging was pretty convincing, you can tell from the first use that something’s not right. It’s like shaving with a cheese grater. What annoys me is that I checked the feedback before buying – well over 200 transactions and not a single negative. Must say though Tony, I shall be learning from this episode and buying from Boots in future. How did you get done twice?

Bought some Mach 3 Turbo blades from Jons-bargains – he has a huge positive feedback. Therefore I can only think that he has himself inadvertantly bought fakes. The shaving experience is flippin awful. Like shaving with a broken bottle. I’ll be buying from the supermarket in future.

I just bought 50+ Gillette Fusion refills from Ebay. I received them yesterday and today someone was nice enough to email me about the fraud that goes on and gave me this website.
What’s interesting is that out of the random boxes(4 packs) that I opened they all have some sort of serial number on each side just like the picture. After seeing the photo on this site, the numbers seem smaller, lighter and very difficult to read. Would someone go that far as to put these different looking serial numbers on them? Probably….
With the order, the seller also threw in what appeared to be a retail handle with 2 blades. When I opened it up to check those blades, neither of them had serial numbers on them. The was even a coupon in there for $2 off and does not expire until 6/08. I figured maybe they don’t put serial numbers on the handle boxes…So.. I checked a handle and blade that I bought from the local store and sure enough it did have a perfect serial number matching the photo on this site. Nice dark, big numbers.
I guess only using them will tell me if they are real or not. I’m going to try the local store bought one that I have, then the ones I bought with the lighter serial numbers, then the one w/o a serial number.
I’ll post back my results. Great site!

Hello! You have a very good Web site in the works. I stumbled across it
because, as you may have guessed, I bought some Gillette blades on eBay which I’m sure are fake.
I suspected there was something wrong with the blades upon first use and I have contacted Gillette to give them details of the blades received from ebay seller joyjoycee. To my surprise they told me that all blades sold by Gillette have 2 serial numbers located behind blades under the frame. I never found any serial number on the blades received from this seller.Despite all of the differences in appearance, (colors of the packaging, script errors, false CPU) .
Needless to say that you don’t need a microscope to determine difference between the GENUINE and the fake blades. A simple magnifier is enough.
I have to say the worst part about the blades is that they can’t offer a close shave and the lubrication strip is nonexistent. The blade I’ve tried scratched my face , who knows what hygiene levels are used in these fake blades!A broken bottle makes a better shaving job. I will not pay a penny to return the blades to the seller, he will have to. Since I have contacted the seller, he has changed his feedbacks to PRIVATE ……I have submitted my case to Paypal and received a positive answer from them. It makes me sick that ebay allows this to go on. Avoid the bargain ebay fake gillette blades!

Found this website thanks to the negative feedback posted by someone else. Checked the photos comparison on this website, and sure enough, no serial numbers.
Awaiting refund request to be acknowledged.

I purchased quite a bulk of Mach 3 turbo blades last year off ebay. I have just come to the last 4 blades and so have been looking for some new ones on ebay when I came across this site. I hadnt used mach 3 blades before as my ex boyfriend left his razor and I decided to take up the advantage. I have looked on the box and found no serial numbers at all and am appalled to find that all these blades where fake. They did cut very well to start with but each blade would only last a few days or so before becoming blunt. Thanks for the information on this site and will in the future be very carefull when buying blades in fact I think I might just stick to the supermarket prices.

Hi again everyone. Just thought an update was in order. While my kids go thru the blades I gave them like water……what kid doesnt use something once then throw it away….. last night for the 1st time I changed the blade in my razor from September. Both my wife and I cant say more about the blades we got from nctrader1999. With so many people coming here to post their complaints…..which I see are gaining speed, I dont know why people STILL go to other people with questionable blades.
Im wondering if anyone else has used this ebay seller before and what their experiance was. My family for one, will say, these are legit.
And with that…..Happy Turkey Day everyone.

See post 25 – The latest update. So the 8 pack Gillette Fusion Power blades sold by The_shop_87 were sent to Gillette UK by UPS after they refunded me the cost of the blades and sorted out the return of the counterfeit items to them. I naturally had NO hesistation in posting a Negative……. “FAKES _ confirmed by Gillette UK _ sold as GENUINE_ Close this EBayer down ” Seller refunds via PayPal, post a negative against my EBay ID for non payment and de registers himself !! ! I complain to EBay who removes the negative feedback since seller has closed down . What happens next ??? The seller …. The_shop_87 is up and running again 5 days later with the same ID and he is now a Power Seller !! He still has my negative feedback and that of 5 others (only comments as they pathetically remove by mutual content etc..) and guess what the Gillette Fusion 8 pack blades are still for sale !!
HOWEVER – I then went and brought another 2 x 4 pack Gillette Fusion Power blades from a different EBayer for £8 plus £2.50pp and guess what – THE REAL THING !!! So everybody…….. it’s not all fakes on EBay

Wow…this site just saved me from gifting 80 fake Mach3s. Thanks. It’s mortifying to think of my brother shaving with something unsanitary and..ick. When I purchased the blades the seller’s name was savonstuff99, but he has since changed it to jlapparrel. I became wary of him as a seller when shipping time seemed unreasonably long, and decided to take a closer look at his feedback. One buyer out of his 300something feedbacks left “These blades are fake.” After a Google search, here I was. I got my refund from him already, but I’m still pretty annoyed. I think a few people here are giving the sellers the benefit of the doubt by saying that they themselves probably don’t even know they’re selling fakes. I’m quite sure they all do. I notice savonstuff was written about by someone else on here. When I told him the razors were fake, his reply was, “we are not sure of our new supplier also, can you send it back for the refund once i refund you back,we need to return this item.” Ha, right…return the item…I’m sure he’s not going to put them right back on ebay.

I too am now a victim of FAKE Gillette Fusion blades from eBay! Just received them today and I open a pack to make sure they were real. FAKES! This eBay seller goldenbowl-2007 has numerous blades listed…Beware! I am about to contact them and see what she has to say! Thank you for all the great information on this site!

I believe eBay should be brought to account. They have allowed a confirmed, by Gillette UK, vendor of counterfeit Fusion Power Blades (8 pack) … the_shop_87 to change their seller ID to… got_your_needs and continue trading these counterfeit items despite their trust & safety department being alerted over 3 weeks ago.
the_shop_87 was exposed on this site on November 7th . The seller is currently out of stock (despite gettting more negative feedback) of these 8 pack Fusion Blades but states there will be more listed at the end of this week. Maybe he’ll get the real blades this time but I doubt it !!!

Thanks for all of this info guys, you have saved me from making a huge error. I had purchased 10×4 packs of the M3 Power blades on ebay several months ago and only recently got around to using them only to discover they gave me the worst shaving rash imaginable, like shaving with a chainsaw. I had actually thought it was I was just not suited to these blades and put the remaining 8 boxes up for auction before finding the link to this site. I have since checked the blades and you guessed it, no numbers. The only real currency you have on ebay is your feedback rating which I am very vigilant in maintaining and therefor have removed the item from sale. As it is more than 90 days since feedback was left on these blades I cannot even identify the seller. These blades will just go into the bin and a lesson learned thoroughly. However thank you all for the info provided on this site, as I say I have been saved from an embarrasing mistake.

I have just discovered the seller of my blades was top_oz_trader who has since deregistered after 2 consecutive red dots on the feedback. I had left +ive feedback for this guy due to the fact the good were delivered quickly and looked to be the real McCoy. Pity I hadn’t needed to use them straight away and found them to be rubbish.

Hello. First of all, thanks for your website. It’s very helpful. I’ve recently bought some Gillette Fusion Power blades on eBay. I bought few Mach3 blades in the past from eBay as well and they didn’t seem OK to me. I contacted the seller and he told me they were real ones. I didn’t do anything about it. This time I bought few blades from a seller in the UK and some more from a seller in USA. The ones from the UK seller are (as far a can tell) real. The cartridges have serial numbers and look original. The ones from USA don’t have any serial number but the look exactly like the ones I received from the UK seller. I compared them as well against Robin’s pictures on your website (Robin’s Gillette Fusion Power picture comparison) and again they look like originals except from having serial numbers on every cartridge. The USA seller ID is bonbon3912. The UK seller ID is i-am-a-nugget1982.

Hi again. In my previous message I mentioned about the blades that I recently bought from a USA seller, eBay ID bonbon3912. I sent an email to the seller letting them know about this website and the ways to know if a blade is a fake or genuine. They replied quickly saying that they didn’t know about the serial numbers on the cartridges. They told me that they buy their blades from known sellers in USA such as Target and other pharmacy shops on the net and, as far as they know, the blades they’re selling are genuine. Tonight I decided to shave my sensitive face with one of the 24 cartridges that I received from this eBay seller. If these blades are fake they must be the best ones on earth because I just had one of the best shaves of my entire life.

My eBay ID is bigrewards and I have been sold counterfeit merchandise by pangster6. This seller is also an eBay employee.
When I received the product, it looked legitimate and I would have left positive feedback right away if I was connected to the internet at that moment.
I opened the package and used one. As I have been using these since the year 2000, I noticed a difference immediately.
There is a lot of information on the internet about these counterfeits, even several ebay guides. Among others, I found one telling difference: you can easily scratch the oral B logo off the counterfeit product.
I emailed the sellers and demanded a full refund. They unapologetically told me that I was the first one to complain, and told me to send the product back if I wanted a refund.
I asked why I had to send the product back, what were they planning to do with it.
They said that’s what I had to do, and after exchanging a few more messages, they ended up calling me a scammer for not wanting to ship it back.
After this, I filled a buyer complaint with Paypal.
The seller immediately escalated the dispute to a claim, and maybe because I am indeed the only person who has complained so far, Paypal determined that I had to return the product in its original condition, and provide a tracking number. This wasn’t possible because I had cut the packaging and used one of the toothbrushes.
Paypal only wanted a tracking number and finally the seller got away with it.
These people are fully aware that they are selling counterfeit merchandise. They have never refuted that.
At this moment I only want to remove my negative feedback. I consider my money lost. Needless to say, I’m not very happy about how things have gone (and that I have been scammed by an ebay employee, no less)

i bought the gillette fusion power blades last month from a UK seller (i am also UK based). Like many others, they turned up quickly and they looked genuine so left good feedback. When i came to use them a few days later they almost cut me to ribbons and i had to change mid-way through the shave and they also rattled in the razor. I contacted the seller and explained the situation. They agreed to take them back (they did not try to defend them self in any way). I sent them recorded delivery but when they arrived they accused me of sending different blades to the ones i received!!! I am in the middle of a paypal dispute now. I just hope no-one else gets caught out by this seller. This is a very helpful site and has confirmed what i already knew.

Probably I should not disclose this, but it is true that MANY COMPANIES IN CHINA HAS ALREADY BECOME AWARE OF THIS WEBSITE AND MAKING MODIFICATION OF THEIR MOLDS TO MAKE THE FAKE BLADES LOOKING EXACTLY SAME AS THE GENUINE. Now, only looking at the serial number on the plastic casing, you can not tell for sure if this is a fake. Proctor and Gamble shall assign a new security feature to their products.
I DO NOT BUY ANY MACH3 from Ebay anymore, and dear customers, please go to Walmart if you want the GENUINE. Spend a little bit more and save all.

I have recently bought some blades from this guy and they are sensational. Was very skeptical after being burned by top_oz_trader (see posts 40 & 41) so I have been cautious in my praise and feedback. However I have now been using one of the blades bought from this guy for a couple of weeks now (7 or 8 shaves) and the blade is performing as the genuine article. I am happy to say I would definitely deal with these guys again.

Do not buy blades from seller jackpot4free!!!
Search on Andrei M. Todika and see all the suspicious crap you will find. Dont be fooled!!
Although I left positive feedback and his feedback is 100%, his blades are 100% FAKE!!! I can confirm it because I have bought and inspected them. The are very convincing fakes, but 100% FAKE!!
He also is involved in so called “forieign lottery” sites.
If you have bought his FAKE blades, inspect them first and please leave him a whopping scathing negative feeedback!

Are you people idiots or what? Did you really expect to buy real Gillette for 1/4 of a price? I will let you in on a little secret. ALL brandname products on ebay are fake. Most people realize this, but do not make a fuss about it, since it works out for everyone. Enjoy the low prices before the whole thing gets shut down.

I wish to confirm that I have received a letter from P&G confirming that the cartridges bought from joyjoycee sent to them for examination are counterfeit ones. eBay seller: Electronic-Import-Store

This guy has been selling fake Gillette Power Fusion blades – I got stung for €60. He also seems to have a bizarre way of getting away with his fraud – he changes his identity every so often (claiming his account has been hacked; his other usual ID is www-abbeybookkeepingservices-co-uk) and eBay remove all his recent listings! This means that recent buyers CANNOT leave feedback for him (I couldn’t!). He sent me nothing at all first and ignored all emails. Only when I opened a dispute with Paypal did he send the blades – and I closed the dispute without testing them. Now, Paypal will not let me re-open the dispute! I have reported his current listings (selling 100 packs for a Buy it Now of £1000!) but eBay will not remove them.
P.S. How can I contact Gillette/P&G in UK/Europe to send them the fake blades?

Great, as of today the_shop_87 aka got_your_needs has changed their name yet again to savings_here and yes your GUESSED posting large quantities of these fakes blades. They are getting away with it left right and centre and know how to play the game. PayPal is a waste of space… they know how to play the game you wait 4-6 weeks… pay up front complain they give you some excuse. Have the cheek to say they can post rec if you pay the extra but when you dispute via paypal they come up with a tracking ref. Then paypal take 10 days to tell you they cant do anything cause the ****** have provided a tracking ref. So you go back to a trader who wont respond…
very frustraing but I wont be giving up.

Like another buyer above, I recently purchased some blades from nctrader1999 and they are the real deal!
This is third time I bought blades of Ebay. 1st time real (sorry I don’t have the seller’s info, it was a long time ago). 2nd time fake. Based on my first experience it did not even occur to me that counterfeit blades even existed. However it was quite obvious. The lubrication strip was plastic. To be honest they were not completely terrible but certainly did not last long. Still not a good deal. Again I don’t have the seller info, all I remember is they were from Calgary and the seller used a female name. Like other buyers I gave the seller feedback due to the prompt shipping and what appeared to be exactly what I bought.
So indeed there are some real blades to be found.

Some people are selling the whole unit (shaver plus blade) in a package that does not include the holding tray. Are these legit? I’ve never seen them in stores before. Some people are selling them by the boxful too. I was watching one auction that just ended and he sold a bushel of them in 1 shot. 200 units to be exact. After reading this site, I’m very skeptical about those. Anyone know about these?
Cool site, I’m glad I found it.

Kelly, I’m not sure, but those shavers in non-retail sort of packaging could be from some sort of promo–I’ve received free shavers from WalMart.com giveaways that are not packaged the same as they are for retail. Selling 200+? A crate probably fell off the back of a truck.
February 1, 2008 at 4:44 pm
John
Ema & Kelly,
I think those are genuinely made by Gillette. Many people have received the razors in such packaging from Gillette’s own promotional mailing campaigns. Also, I doubt if there is nearly as much incentive for counterfeiters to bother making fake razors (as opposed to razor blades which sell in much greater numbers). For almost the past century, Gillette has made very little to no profit from it’s razors (handles/sticks/whatever you call it). Given the cost of counterfeiting the razor handles and the small profit of razor handles, my logical assumption (which could be wrong) is that counterfeiters don’t bother making fake razor handles, but only the fake blades. If anyone can confirm that there are indeed fake Gillette razor handles on the market, I’d like to know.

I posted this comment elsewhere on this site, but think it’s probably more relevant here (admin may remove the other if wanted).
I recently purchased Gillette Fusion Power razor blades from two ebay UK sellers, and both of them are selling fakes. These two sell a very high number of the fake blades each week in auctions and featured fixed price listings. They did not have the serial numbers and were fake according to other “fake-detecting” criteria (which I found in an eBay guide), as well. I will mail these to the fakeblades site-owner if desired or can take photos. I reported both sellers to eBay and to Gillette and recommend that others who have been ripped off do the same.
The UserID of the first culprit is ironfloor80, who’s feedback is actually quite good. There were only a few Neutral comments refering to fake/dull razors found using a feedback tool like toolhaus.org or goofbay.com to sift out the positives. So I assumed his were actually real, but they were not. Surprisingly, I was the first to leave him a negative, though he’s been selling these for months.
The other one has recently changed his UserID from got_your_needs to savings_here. I see Chris (comment #3) has already mentioned this guy under his previous name. His feedback is amazingly bad, it’s actually incredible to me the seller is still on eBay with 39 negatives in the past month, and I’m sure he won’t be for long if he keeps selling the same things, but I inadvertantly left him a positive, which was pretty dumb.
Be advised not to buy razor blades from either of these sellers. From reading here, it seems eBay does too little to stop this. I have reported to eBay and done what I can in that respect. I am considering contacting the government and wondered which offices, agencies or bureaux would be suitable, and might act on the information?

I’ve just bought blades first from got_your_needs (now savings_here) who took a month to deliver the blades and is mentioned on this guestbook a few times and also from someone called inflate74. And thanks to this site, I have Identified them both as fakes.
I wasn’t aware of the fake blades on ebay before I purchased them, and wish I had found this great site earlier.
Why do ebay allow the trading of potentially dangerous blades to continue? Perhaps they are just turning a blind eye in fear of losing out on revenue? This practice has to be stop.

Great site, wish I knew about it before I ordered some Mach 3 Turbo blades from got_your_needs, now changed identity to savings_here.
The blades took a month to arrive and now appear to be fakes if the info on your site is correct, I’ll be in touch with Gillette and will let you know the outcome. I have been mailing this seller regarding a refund but I have been getting no response, also when the blades did arrive there was a covering letter apologising with the threat of negative feedback if I left negative or neutral, One to be avoided

got_your_needs Gillette blades on Ebay
I also purchased Gillette (or not) Mach3 Turbo blades for my husband.
The delivery was extremely slow and only arrived after sending an Email.
I left neutral feedback and over the last 4 days have received an unpaid strike against me, despite sending emails stating I had paid for and received the goods. I was reading through their feedback and spotted this site, to check blades are genuine.
They are fakes no serial number on plastic holders etc.
Iam trying to get the strike removed and I see today, the company is no longer a registered user.
I fear they will just set up again under yet another name and continue the con.
Thanks for this site.

I recently received fake Gilltette Mach 3 blades from an eBay auction. The user’s name was nicholecc but is not longer a registered eBay user. The email address was nicholegoddard@yahoo.com. that person also used an email address of clarklsn2001@sbcglobal.net, name of Justin Clark .
PayPal did not help me, they said their protection only applies to the shipment of the goods.

I recently purchased 20 boxes of 4 blades each from Nichole Goddard/ Justin Clark on eBay. I did this outside of ebay (unfortunately) and was sent 12 boxes initially. After a few emails, and filing a paypal dispute, Nichole asked for the boxes back, and Justin actually refunded my 77.00 back through paypal. this process took almost a month. I recently began to suspect that the blades were counterfeit, which is how I found this site. I imagine that I am lucky, as I now have 20 boxes of fake blades, but I got my money back. I got a response from calling paypal directly, and explaining that I was shortchanged (sent less than the agreed amount). Paypal’s customer service number is: 1-888-221-1161
At any rate, for those that are interested, here is the info I have on Nichole and Justin:

I recently purchase 24 packs of gillette mach 3 turbo blades from seller nice…guy on ebay. When shaving I noticed there was something wrong when the lotion strips began falling off. So I did a little research on them and long and behald they were fake. I asked the seller nicely for a refund, but was given a replay saying they were real and that there is nothing he could do about it. I kept emailing him daily asking nicely for a refund, eventually after several weeks he finally refunded. Do not buy from this guy as he does not sell a good product. Buyers beware.

My experience on ebay for buying gillette blades was a good one at first, then I bought from a person that was selling them for about half the price then what the store sells them for. I went ahead and purchased the blades from jlapparrel on ebay. I ordered 25 4 packs of mach 3 blades. I recieved them promptly and within the week I began using them. They tore up my face really bad and didn’t look genuine to me. I immediately stopped using them and issued negative feedback. I recieved a negative in return, which wasn’t right because none of it was my fault. I never recieved my money bank and I threw the blades away. It was a complete waste of time and money on my part. I will now never buy on ebay again, I should have known from the beginnning that there was something up because they were half the price as they were in the store. Never trust anyone on there selling blades. Just go buy them at the store that way I can save you the hassle.

I bought 16 Gillette Mach 3 Power blades. After using one for 4 days I noticed it seemed to be scraping my skin. I wasnt sure why it did so did some searching and found this great site. Never knew blades had serial numbers on, mine have not. Last time I bought Mach 3 normal blades they had a serial on and they were great, from ebay might I add. These are not. I bought from Wennel25 and emailed them 2 days ago, no response. mailed again yesterday asking what they intended to do to resolve matters before I report to Ebay. Still no response.
My questions is what should I do next – send to Gillette or chase via Ebay and Paypal? Maybe Gillette will view it favourably but looking at the amount of fakes I reckon they may be paying out lots ofr fakes that are not of their making. Any ideas?

I recently purchase 40 4 packs of m3 power blades from Wennel25 on ebay. What is really odd about them was when I opened them they seemed like they had already been used, lucky I saw that before I started shaving with them. OR else I would be even more mad. I emailed this seller about a week ago and have gotten no response. I’m posting on this board becuase I just saw that another buyer bought the same crap I did and is having trouble getting their money back. This seller needs to be kicked off ebay and us given our money back, thats all I want. Do not buy from Wennel25 on ebay, they are a fraud.

Just to let you know, a few of the sellers on here sell legit gillette products on ebay. I have bought from them time and time again and they are honestly the legit product with serial numbers, perfect quality, etc. The people posting these comments better watch out for giving false information as this is called defamation and can be used in the court of law. Looking at “savings_here” recent ended auctions (by doing a completed search) he had a few auctions of both Gillette Fusion Power and Mach3 Turbo blades end on the 17th. I’m sure their fake, just like the fakes he’s always sold. I don’t understand eBay – he was NARUed (see my comments in #62) and started using a different ID “nice…guy” (which was totally obvious because he used the exact same ads). His second account is now NARUed, but why have they let him resume selling fakes on his original account? It’s puzzling and disturbing!
I noticed another eBay UK seller by the name “ironfloor80” has also returned from NARU status. For awhile all of his ended Fusion Power listings came up as “invalid item” if you searched for them by item number (which is what happens when eBay pulls a listing for counterfeit items or other listing violations), but now they are appearing like normal auctions again. He’s sold thousands of pounds/dollars worth of fakes (more than any other fake razor blade seller on eBay UK in the past few months) but eBay has allowed him to return. He’s even returned with PowerSeller status. I’m not sure when his account was reinstated, but so far he has not sold any Gillette products… I doubt if that will last.

Hmmm….I can only assume that Ebay is beginning to realise that their new feedback policy will kick in in May, and perhaps there is still some mileage to be extracted from the sellers of fake goods: once too many negative feedbacks come in, a lot of these fakesters will die of `natural causes` (ie everybody will have a clear picture regarding the nature of their products and stop buying them).
Until then, reinstate the accounts and rake in whatever profit is possible.
Ebay is looking tired now, and needs a serious overhaul: their customer service is appalling and the whole thing is based on layer upon layer of platitudes and worn-out cliches. The Trust and Safety part makes the Keystone Kops look like Sherlock Holmes!

Someone will respond quickly but so far, apart from the fact they are polite it just points out facts your already know.
I dont think they would even comment on the fact you beleive that individual sellers are selling fake blades, they rake the money in on each sale. When you go back with some venom in your contect they go quite… I am still waiting 10 days for a reply to my last message… all I did get was a survey to complete.
and as for PAYPAL… protection what a WASTE OF TIME… pathetic. The unscruplous sellers know how to playt he game. You end up doing what we can do with OUT PAYPAL and that is to file a charge back with the credit company. BEST WAY.

Recently bought some Gillette M3 Power razor blades from http://www.replacementrazor.com. Seemed legitimate, but no! I just wished to participate in saying a few things:
1) THANK YOU for spending the time, efforts, energy and money in making this site. In a world where it’s easier to just walk away from the never-ending and ever-so growing/rampid group of liars and cheaters, you stepped up and have made a difference so that people you don’t know would/could have a chance to NOT get taken and/or ripped off. So I’m taking the small amount of time to commend you because YOU have taken SO much more in teaching us all of these aspects of ‘real’ vs. ‘fake’. I wish my positive words could be worth so much more or even better I wish I had quite the lot of valuables (money) because this is a case where I think the good guy (you) should be blessed. However, though you cannot grab hold of what I send – I do hold firm in my belief that fortune WILL come your way because of the good in you …. just the same do I believe the day will come where these loser/cheater (and a bunch of more ‘choice words’ for these types of scammers) will get theirs and it’s going to be an eternity of suffering because their hearts grew black & ugly.
2) I pray that much blessing come your way and that you continue to stand against the injustices of this world because there is going to be a day where good COMPLETELY triumphs over evil and in this – those who practice evil will pay an eternal price. And ‘eternal’ means forever and ever and ever!
And I hope that whomever reads this will do the same as you have, with whatever injustice it is that comes in front of them, to also stand up and share what is right vs wrong as not only is it the right thing to do (in helping others and exposing the ‘bad people’) but I swear that together we CAN make a difference in this ugly world and there IS, then, going to be a “one day” that we’ll get the satisfaction of seeing justices instead of these thugs/losers win.
God bless you my friend, and God bless each of you who take a stand in whatever shows itself close to you as this.

bought 20 Gillette Mach3 off ‘Savings Here’..and yes you’ve guessed it..they’re fakes. Quite good ones but still fakes..don’t last very long and the lubricating strip is plastic. Usual garbage from PayPal..sent back in same condition (but I’ve opened them..that’s how I know they’re fakes?!) and return recorded delivery at MY expense..umm..thanks a bunch PayPal..bloody useless!
I have had blades off ebay before and they were genuine so I was a bit more trusting than I should have been as it seems that the fakes are now more prevalent than the real article. Is about time Ebay took more responsibility methinks!!!

The manufactures/retailers should sell the original blades for less, they charge way too much for them especially in the UK where 4 mach 3 blades is about £9 (approx $18), this is the whole reason why the fake market exists. I personally haven’t purchased any “fake blades”, however I was about to when I noticed this website on one negative feedback. I have however purchased some electric toothbrush heads off ebay which I could tell were fake, this didn’t bother me too much as they seem to clean just as well (I use expensive tooth paste/mouth wash anyway). But with something like shaving I don’t think I will take the chance, especially with something razor sharp near my face

I was hoping that that huckster, savings_here, had been banned from selling his fake blades on ebay but unfortunately I was wrong. Watch out! He’s re-incarnated himself for the nth time, now calling himself save_pounds.

Was on ebay a couple of weeks ago in search of a couple of bits before a trip, found a good deal on blades. Thought why not, 40 blades for nearly the price of 2 packets, bargin of the century !!
And with blades being so expensive these days, I was more then happy bidding and sending my money. A week or so later, they came, got rid of my old blade and put a fresh new one….. went all wrong from there…
was rough, pulled at hairs and left me all red and cut !
In short guys, save yourself the time, and buy blades from asda or Tesco, pay a little more and save in the long run ! The seller who stung me was 2006mer and thier still selling them to this day ! SHOCKING “

Great point mate, like i said before in my post, its because blades are so highly priced people tend to look else where, and when prices seem too good to miss out on, its human nature to buy. Only if gillette really took notice…

Ive been doing some research on fake blades now and where thier coming from, and its actually very easy to find suppliers from china. I found serveral factories willing to sell them to me, which some selling mach 3 turbos, packs of 4 blades as cheap as $1.70 (£0.85 !)
I questioned them to why they were selling dangerous items, but all they say is thier item is of good quality, and best in china etc… But when asked do they use them, they always said No… Intresting !
If these guys can afford to make and sell these for as little as this and make a profit good enough on them, where they make millions a year, why cant gillette afford to lower thier prices? ?
Ive contacted P&G about thier prices , and all they really could say was they believe thier prices to be competitive in todays market… even tho other brands are about £1 cheaper.. Hmm… Also they claim the sales of fake blades are hurting them in a major way, but the way i see it, is people buy the fakes looking for a cheaper deal then what stores like Asda and Tesco sell them at.
I am against fake blades, but im also against Gillettes near monopoly of the market where they can sell blades at high prices forcing people to look for an alternative
Any thoughts ??

In regards Allen’s comments below i totally agree with you, gillette does over charge for thier products, and reading your post just makes me sick to know how much gillette make and then have a nerve to complain, then they can stop the problem!!
Only people i feel sorry for are those who suffer learning the hard way of fake blades, but realistically this website and its users shouldnt be responsible for taking down bad sellers. Gillette should do more, instead of doing nothing and repying on people good will to do the right thing, but i guess thier shareholders are making enough money still to turn a blind eye.
To the owner of this web site, Bravo on your efforts!

Came across this site when a friend told me he bought some ’suspect’ blades. Never knew how many people were effected. But i think we should just leave it in the hands of ebay and P & G as they can realistically stop this anytime they want, just a matter of how bad they want to stop it ?
I guess ebay is making enough money to not care too much and P & G is a billion dollar company, so they also are making enough money to not care too much. I mean how many times have you read on the internet or seen on the news that Gillette bust china sellers or are putting thier foot down? But then comapnies like Nintendo and Epson have several times been mentioned and quoated for thier efforts.
Intresting i think.
Nice work on the site

Thank you for reading
this was a good read and i think everyone should view it so im moving it to the top if thats ok ??

I got some fake razor blades from ebay member: bestselling888
I got 16 X GILLETTE FUSION “POWER” BLADES OTH24U, but they is missing the S/N. The blades did come in “original” Gillette packets and looks very real, but since they are missing the S/N I assume they are fakes.

Well like everyone here I was bitten by the fake Mach 3s (Literally bitten on the face when I tried to use them!) Anyway for years I have purchased blades from an online wholesale store OTC Wholesale. I have always had great success buying from them and the price was much better than retail in the store prices. So about a month ago when my stock of Mach 3s started to dwindle I thought I would check e-bay and see if I could get a better deal than what OTC was offering.
Of course I found a deal on ebay for 80 Mach3 blades for $90 dollars. WOW!! What a deal I thought. Everything seemed good when the blades arrived. Had convincing packaging and the blades looked authentic in just about every way. I had a few of my old real blades left so I did not use the new ones right away. Shortly after I decided to try the new blade and it felt like the dullest oldest blade I had ever used. My face was all red and nicked up. I thought maybe I did not use enough lather so the next day I lathered up better than I usually do but still terrible shave job, very painful and red faced again. Then I thought maybe it was a bad blade and proceeded to try another one same result, tried one more same result.
So I hit Google and searched for dull Mach 3 blades and eventually found this site. After looking at all the signs I found my cartridge holders did not have the serial number on the side. That combined with the terrible shave job led me to believe the blades were fake. I contacted the ebay seller, referenced this website and explained what happened. He immediately gave me a refund and a $10.00 credit to return the blades. He said he was going to look into the matter so at this time I will not give out names because I think he was honestly dupped by whoever supplied him with the blades.
So after being bitten I took my refund and went back to my old reliable OTC Wholesaler. I placed my order and the blades arrived yesterday. I used one and it was a real blade. Had all the serial numbers etc. So moral of the story I should have payed the extra to go with the company I knew supplied good products. This is the 4th time I bought blades there and have not been disappointed once. If anyone is looking for discounted Gillette blades I highly recommend them.
I just wanted to thank the creator of this website because if this site did not exist I would have probably never been able to be sure the E-bay blades were fakes. I also wanted to take the opportunity to tell people about a good company to buy the blades from that won’t screw you. I was lucky I was able to get my money back on E-bay.

Thanks for such an informative site. I consider myself a pretty savvy buyer and decided to grab some cheap Mach 3 blades on ebay… well I found them!
I was happily bidding along when I started poking around a little further and stumbled across your site. Luckily, I’m wiser and no poorer after being outbid on a 40 pack of “genuine” blades. As it turns out – the guy selling these is one of the many that were identified in this forum. So… I’m still blade-less and was wondering if anyone had suggestions on the best, most reliable place online to buy blades at a discount. If it’s against this site’s policy to do so – forget I asked!

Brought couple of boxed of Mach 3 refill blades off replacementrazors.com, looked legitimate at first but now as I start to use them, I suspect that are fakes. The blades are missing the imprinted Gillette logo on the front, the blades are also a bit jagged and the sponge-cream applicator doesn’t reach the skin. The shave is definately also harsher then my old blades.

The Ebay feedback system is a joke that protects themselves only. There are 2 problems that perpetuate the fake-blades and other ebay scams.
1. There are many crooks selling on Ebay.
2. Ebay protects them, because it lines their pockets.
If Ebay wanted to protect the buyers, they would impose a rule that the seller MUST leave feedback first. This only makes sense because the buyers only obligation is to make a prompt payment. Once that is done, he should receive his feedback. Then, the buyer would be able to leave accurate feedback on the Seller, without fear of receiving a retaliatory negative feedback.
I refuse to leave any feedback for a seller that makes me leave feedback first, and I won’t buy from them again, because their feedback ranking cannot be trusted.

What is your problem?? If you dont like dont buy cheap razors on ebay. There are people who cannot afford original ones. I always use the original razor but it doesnt bother me that there are fakes on internet. Who is so stupid to believe that so cheap razors can be original must pay the price of dull razor.
I dont expect you will publish my feedback as I noticed there are only feedbakcs from people who takes your side.
Have a good shave

sancho does have a point here. If people are willing to take the chance of buying blades which are way too cheap, they should know there is something wrong going on.

I recently bought a pack of 8 Gillette Fusion Power blades from http://www.cheapsmells.com and, thanks to this website, I was able to determine they were fake – they had no serial number.
I wrote to cheapsmells asking for a refund and they assured me the blades were genuine. I subsequently sent the blades to Proctor and Gamble in the UK and they have confirmed they are indeed fake and are now furthering their investigations in conjunction with Trading Standards. They have given me a voucher for £2 towards my next purchase – so I am still out of pocket by £14.10.
I’ll put this all down to experience – and hope that trading standards manage to deal with cheapsmells.com in the appropriate manner.

After reviewing your site, I thought it’s pretty delightful of you to create this website. However, I still think that most Ebay consumers do not know that they are buying counterfeit blades. One of my suggestions I would like to share with you is that, to warn Ebay consumers of buying counterfeit blades, Ebay should REQUIRED all sellers who sells blades will have to include a reference to this site, or create one of their own site for comparison. This will surely stop and educate the buyers and prevent counterfeit blades!! However, Ebay are letting this happen because of the money.

Just recieved fake blades today from “suchapowersell” on ebay. It was a white box with 10 X 4 packs on it. 40 blades in all. I just contacted the seller and opened a dispute with paypal. I was hoping to get a contact person from P&G who would deal with a possible reimbursment for sending them the blades instead.

Alright, just got a response back from the seller above, He said He would gladly accept the return and that He knew they weren’t fake. Yeah right, He doesn’t even accept returns. I think He is just avoiding being exposed. He’s a very new seller after all.

WHY DO YOU PEOPLE CARRY ON BUYING BLADES OFF EBAY AND WEB SITES TRYING TO SAVE A LITTLE MONEY?? IF YOU BUY THEM FROM THE STORE, WHERE THIER OBVIOUSLY REAL, FAKES WONT BE BOUGHT, AND THEY WILL STOP SELLING.
IVE BEEN ON THIER SITE SEVERAL TIMES NOW, CHECKING PEOPLES COMMENTS, AND IVE SEEN BUYERS WHO HAVE BEEN STUNG ONCE ON EBAY, BUT THEN BUY FROM EBAY AGAIN IN HOPE OF THEM BEING REAL, BUT HAVE THE CHEEK TO REPORT THE SELLERS AND COMPLAIN!?
IF ALL YOU POSTERS ARE AWARE OF FAKES, WHY RISK IT , AND THEN COMPLAIN ABOUT IT??
ONE MORE THING, YOU GUYS ARE NOT P&G EMPLOYEES, MEANING WHY BOTHER SENDING THEM BLADES AND HELPING THEM WITH ROUGE TRADERS? ALL THEY DO IS TAKE THE BLADES, SAY THIER FAKE ( EVEN WHEN WE SENT IN REAL BLADES TO CHECK HOW ACCURATE THEY ARE, WHICH MEAN THEY PROBABLY CANT BE BOTHERED TO EVEN CHECK!) FAKE BLADES ARE NOT AFFECTING P&G ENOUGH FOR THEM TO FORM THIER OWN TEAM TO STOP THE PRODUCTION. I MEAN IN CHINA THEY OPENLY PRODUCE THE FAKES. IF ALL THESE SELLERS ON EBAY AND THESE WEB SITES CAN GET HOLD OF FAKE BLADES, WHY CANT P&G JUST GO THERE AND GET THESE PEOPLE SHUT DOWN…HMMM ??
P.S HOPE YOU POST, AS YOU SEEM TO ONLY WANT TO POST ‘BAD’ SELLERS AND PEOPLE COMPLAINING FOR FALLING FOR FAKE BLADES AGAIN…

I gotta say, there are real blades on Ebay as well, but there can be no legitimate defense for sellers claiming they are selling “genuine” or “authentic” blades on Ebay when they are selling fakes. Timmy, if you think it’s so fine and dandy then you are mistaken.
I doubt anyone cares if people sell “knock-off” blades on Ebay as long as they disclaim in plain English. That’s just not the case with these sellers. They are taking advantage of people who have no reason to suspect the deception.
Kudos to this site for at least trying to warn people and to provide an explanation as to why the blades they just purchased are hurting their skin.

Here’s another seller, “Jaggerrock” whol sells counterfeit blades. This particular seller describes them as “Gillette Trac II style” blades instead of just saying Hey, these are not Gillette brand they are blades that work with the Gillette Trac II made by another manufacturer.
Just rediculous, I mean do you have to have a lawyer read auction listings for you looking for clues?
Absolutely rediculous

Timmy, should everything on Ebay be assumed to be fake? Are you one of these counterfeit sellers? Do you work for Gillette?
Ebay is still an excellent resource for buyers and sellers but because Ebay could care less about the quality of its sellers, it’s up to other parties to police it and warn people. Is that so wrong?

No its not wrong, but theres many people out there and even on this site who continue to buy blades off ebay , taking the risk and then complaining after about them being fakes again? Why do these people continue to buy blades off ebay, then complaining.
If people are willing to take the chance to save a little money, they should bitch about it. Just carry on buying them from the shop and be happy.
As for ebay, they are taking steps, as sellers can no longer leave negatives for buyers, which means buyers dont need to be afraid of getting a negative.
Very mature name too…..

Its wrong people sell fakes blades, but theres a market for them because people dont want to pay full price, so they buy them. I dont sell blades , i wouldnt waste my time.

Recently purchased 20 M3 Power blades from healthheaven2000, the package looks legit but its not English, maybe thats the reason behind cheaper prices?
Anyways looking at the blades and cartridges there maybe tell tail signs that they are not legit such as missing serial numbers and possible poor construction. I have sent the seller a mail querying he does have a lot of possitive feedback but the negatives ones all say blades are fake.
June 25, 2008 at 3:12 pm
Realist
I think all of this talk about fake blades is ridiculous. People on here going “Oh thank goodness I discovered I have bought or thought about buying fake blades.” Here’s a fact: people buy on Ebay because the blades are way more inexpensive than retail. They are bargain shoppers and are looking for a deal. Furthermore, if the blades perform like the real thing…. WHO CARES!!!??? The cartridges fit into your razor and cut your facial hair. Isn’t that the point of shaving? So you guys save money, buy in bulk, the razor blades do what they’re supposed to do (cut your facial hair) and you complain because you believe they are replicas.
It’s just shaving people.
By the way… I bought some from Ebay. Cost me $50 free shipping and I’m sure they are fake because I looked for the serial number on the plastic case and compared it to my original authentic mach 3 blades I bought from the store. One one side of my face I shaved with the “fake” and on the other with Mach 3 “real. The side I shaved with the fresh-out-of-the-box authentic Mach 3 blade feels raw and the side I shaved with the fake feels fine. Explain that one.

I recently purchased 40 Gillette Mach 3 Turbo cartridges on eBay from seller “dotcom07″. After receiving them I compared one of his cartridges to a known good cartridge purchased locally and found his cartridge to be fake. After two shaves the aloe strip on the known good cartridge turned half the shade of green as it was new, the strip never changed at all or did a thing from the bogus cartridge. The shave difference was like night and day as well. The packaging on the bogus cartridges was enough to fool the most cautious consumer but the cartridge holders did not have serial numbers on them either. I immediately contacted the guy and told him I thought the cartridges were fake. He refunded my money that day and stated that he’d like the cartridges returned, he’d pay the shipping cost, so that he could take up this issue with his supplier. He’s still cartridges on eBay folks…..avoid this guy.

I’ve just read Timmy’s comments and he missed the point…….. E bayers are selling fakes but confirming that they are genuine when they’re not……that’s the crime here.
There are genuine items on E bay – I’ve brought them as well as fakes… You’ve just got to find them. If you don’t want to take the risk then Timmy’s correct……… go and buy from the High Street

Why do people buy from Ebay and not Supermarkets, Pharmacies?
If you look at sites like made in china etc they are packed with export companies selling Gillette products abroad. I wonder why these counterfeiters do not get closed down? If cost is an issue for a consumer why not try a cheaper brand (private label) I have tried Dorco, Kai, and ASR
products that are equal to Mach 3/Sensor. Just got a Kai 4 blade so will be trying it out soon. Good site by the way. although my European blades do not have serial numbers.

inflate74 is a fraudster and sells fake Gillette blades. I bought a pack of Gillette Mach 3 Turbo blades and they tore my face apart. Gladly I realised this before any major damage was done. These people should be locked up.

dotcom07 is still selling blades on ebay, and I was interested in one of his auctions, so I sent him an email asking if the blades were guaranteed genuine. He replied with a very evasive answer to the effect that “nothing in life is guaranteed” and suggested I buy retail if I wanted to be sure. Now that I read this, I’m glad I didn’t bid and get ripped off – it’s clear he knows they’re fakes and doesn’t care.

I put up a warning auction. My auction looks like an auction for cheap mach 3 blades but upon reading the details you realize it’s a warning about all the fake blades. The auction only cost me 15 cents to start. I plan on putting a few up per week. If you are reading this post you could do the same thing and if there are enough warning auctions out there people might get the point. It’s an idea anyway. Here’s the link to my auction: http://cgi.ebay.com/Mach-3-Gillette-Blades-CHEAP-look-here-first_W0QQitemZ170252482768QQihZ007QQcategoryZ31764QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

Be careful even when buying from non-ebay stores like amazon.com.
I purchased blades from a seller that “fulled” the order from amazon.com. It arrived in an amazon box, with a packing slip from amazon. They are fake.
Amazon took them back without a problem. Toyestore was the name of the seller. Bottom line, BUY AT A STORE.

While checking the search engines I found a comment about savonstuff. I now realize that there is an ebay seller out there with the same name as my website. I would like to make it know that we are in no way associated with each other and I hope that this hasn’t given me a bad name allready as I am just starting to launch my site and get my products out there. Sorry for any confussion there might have been. Please take time to visit the site. By the way I do not sell on Ebay. I wanted to find a way to make it by myself and that what I trying to do. Thanks for reading.

Thanks for this site! I’ve been bidding on a few packs in Sweden on a website related to ebay (tradera.com) with the gut feeling that there must be something wrong when the price is about a quarter of the retail price but haven’t found any proof for this. However, the first packs worked fine but then I bid on M3 power and the first one I tried did not feel as previous ones. Any hints on what to look at? I checked for the number on the box as shown for the mach3 turbo but not sure if it should be there on m3 power because mine was blank.
I have now bought a different versions and sizes from 5-6 different dealers and will examine them in detail.
Is there even a chance that some of them really are real for the low price? Does any one know anything about retail net price? When I called Gillette they directly offered me compensation. Not sure if they just try to keep it down?

So to clarify the position. Are people on here saying that all blades from China are fake?
I know for a fact that P&G are going through labour disputes in China because all of their staff get no holiday pay, sick pay and have to work 6 days a week.
Now they may have osrted this out now, as this was a story from 2006, but I can safely assure people that they do make Gillette Blades in China.
It would be interesting to get people’s feedback. Maybe we should set up a group to buy blades from a manufacturer as a group? There are plenty of us on here. Anyway labour story below and notice that there are several companies disputing giving the Chinese work force any rights!
Labor
According to Global Labor Strategies (GLS), a nonprofit resource center for social movements, Procter & Gamble is one of the corporations “acting through business organizations like the American Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai and the US-China Business Council,” to lobby against China’s Draft Labor Contract Law. This new law proposed by the Chinese government aims to secure minimal labor standards for workers, such as enforceable labor contracts, severance pay regulations and negotiating power over workplace procedures and policies. A GLS report entitled: “Behind the Great Wall of China: U.S. Corporations Opposing New Rights for Chinese Workers,” notes that while the law will not eliminate labor problems in China, it is an important step in improving a system where poverty wages, lack of health and safety protections, and the absence of any legal contracts are common for Chinese workers. Organizations representing US companies have threatened to withdraw business from China if such a law is passed. Other companies lobbying agains the law include Google, Wal-Mart Nike and General Electric.

This page makes it quite clear to all of us that fake blades are very common on ebay and the internet in general.
So here’s a question, where can we purchase REAL legitimate blades at a discounted price, since we all damned well know the real products are seriously overpriced / gouged?
Any suggestions? Is there a known ‘real’ ebay seller or another option?

Hi guys,
I bid on 20 Mach 3 Turbo blades and got really worried, after I found this website. Then I got the blades in the mail and checked the package and blades vs. the checkers on this website. The blades, align well, the bands are good, the packages is hard plastic, everything is clean and even the code printed on the right side is the right format. It all checks out. I believe I actually bought real Gillette blades on Ebay. 20 Mach 3 turbo blades for 24 bucks.
Could I just be lucky or might these be really good fakes?

My wife bought 40 Gillette mach 3 razors on ebay from threepinripper and as soon as i used one i nearly ripped my face off. I yelled in the shower and told her she bought counterfeit razors. She mentioned she checked his feedback ect…it was 98.5%. and he was willing to refund $ within 7 days.
i am curious how he has 295 rating with only 1 neg in the last 12 months all he sells is razors.
All of his transactions are happy ones…!!?? i wonder if he was given fake ones? or are all of his feedback also fakes…?

Big WOW you came across a fake gillette blade at your local store, online amazon or ebay. You can accidentally get a legit defect right from the actual maker and wrongfully accuse someone on ebay or else where online . The fact of the mater is if your looking for something fake you just mite find it, anyways if you want to save time from your personal crisis go to WALMART and buy your stuff their and you problem is solved.

and then read some of these comments I’ve received:
Dear ihavegotnewsocks,
“Thanks alot, I’ve been looking at these blades for 2 days. I was just about to bid on some when I came across your listing. I will NOT be getting any of these blades. THANKS AGAIN!!! Bob”
“The world needs more people like you.”
“Hi, Thanks for the info. Its amazing to me all these are being sold with good feedback being left. Where do they get these ?”
“Thank you for the info. I knew the prices were way too good to be true, so I didn’t buy any. I did not know that even the packaged ones were fake as well. Keep up the good work!!”
“Way to go, hope you keep up the listing, I bought counterfeit blades that cost me $20.50. have listed a dispute with the seller, with ebay would keep these scumbags off of ebay. Ray Davis”
“Great info, i wish i would have seen this before.I got scammed for 60 pieces of junk blades this guy Ben Tao was the sellers name. Sence then he has changed sellers name. The gillette company told me also the blades are not lined up perfectly also very noticable with a magnifying glass!Hope others see this.I even asked this guy if i could fly in to California were he is from and have a little hands on conversation. Surprisingly he refused my offer.Thank again for telling people! T.Bosco”
“I just wanted to drop you a note to thank you for the information, it’s much appreciated. I hadn’t a clue that razors could be counterfeit, who knew? You’ve saved me some money and did it at your own expense (the listing costs) just to be kind. I just felt like someone needed to give you kudos for that kindness. Thanks so much!

Here are some of the negative comments I’ve received:
“Dear ihavegotnewsocks,
You make it sound like the sellers are out there knowingly trying to exploit buyers on ebay. Your comment from the person giving you kudos attests to the fact that “who’d have known you could counterfeit a razor”. I certainly didn’t and I was thinking of buying a lot of 200 8-packs from a liquidator. Now I have to ask the seller about the authenticity of the blades.
Does ignorance = out-to-get-you-money-hungry-unethical-seller?
PS. Feel free to post my thoughts, as I don’t think it’s fair you’re painting sellers in such a negative light.”
- jliquid2000
My response to him/her:
“Dear jliquid2000,
There’s an age old statement that goes “ignorance is no excuse.” Which means if you break the law and say “I didn’t know it was against the law to do that” then you still don’t get out of the crime. That’d be like killing someone and then saying “I didn’t know.” I never said all the sellers on ebay know they are selling fakes, I said my seller was a scam artist. I also said that most of the blades are fake. Both statements are true. What I do is let people know that they’re in for a rough shave and possibly a poisoned one. Who knows if they use lead in the manufacturing process or some kind of other toxin. I’m glad you realized that your blades are most likely fakes but the fact is rather than thank me you attack me for my service. I lose money at this, I’m not in this for any kind of gain. I only want people to know what they may end up buying.
- ihavegotnewsocks”
“Dear ihavegotnewsocks,
Hello,
I bought 40 Mach3 Turbo on eBay about 5 years ago and believe it or not, I’m still using them. I never had any problems with any of them so far and I find them to be excellent. I honestly don’t know if what I got was the genuine product from Gillette or a fake product but let me tell you this, if they were fake, then give me only fake razors for the price I paid (about $40).
I went to a local store to check prices of razors and the cost of a Mach3 Turbo pack of 4 was an astonishing $24.99!!! Does that seem normal to you? If it does, then by all means, keep buying the real Gillette products and pay the price.
Thank you,
- arie001″
My response to him/her:
Dear arie001,
I understand your response. I feel Mach3 blades are way overpriced. It’s why I started buying them on ebay. But I can get generic Mach3 blades at the store for about a dollar a cartridge. The problem with these fakes are they come from China and since they’re counterfeit there are no watchdog agencies. Basically if they wanted to make lead blades they could. Just recently manufacturers in China made milk with an added chemical to fool tests into thinking it had more protein. This chemical ended up being a poison. They have been known to ship out toys with lead in the paint. See this is my problem. These blades are not only poor quality but they come from China and are a black market item, they’re not even above board items meaning absolutely no one is watching who makes them. Use them but beware. That’s all I have to say.
- ihavegotnewsocks”

Well ebay did it. They’d rather protect the sellers of counterfeit blades than allow the only warning people have that’s right there in their faces. I’ve been doing these auctions for a while and now it’s their goal to stop them. Read what they wrote me:

I was scammed myself. Most of the Mach 3 blades for sale on Ebay are actually counterfeit blades. You can tell because there is no serial number on the cartridge holster. Don’t trust feedback. DON’T BE SCAMMED. You can read all about it on http://www.fakeblades.com

Wow. You must have lots of time on your hands.
I was looking into selling razors and made sure to check the authenticity before I purchased- and ran across this site.
I think its very inconsiderate to post everyones ebay ids online as being “fake” sellers. Most of these people probably didnt take the time, or even know they should look into the posibility of fake razors- really knock off razors? who would of thought?
I feel bad for all the people trying to make some extra cash and having there credibility ruined by your website.
Quite frankly, I think your an asshole with nothing better to do than spend hours writing rants about gillette not returning your calls. There probably sick of your shit as well.

One other thing I would like to mention. I did also buy a 4pk of Fusion Power cartridges from the walmart the same day and there were serial #’s on those blades. I belive there may be some type of production issues, differences or some kind of propaganda, when it comes to the fusion blades that we the public and fakeblades.com is not aware of. Maybe they do this to scare you away from ebay so that they dont loose money from china where these fake blades are made. The Gillette company knows that not all blades come with serial #’s on them, so the question is WHY?
Now because of this website I lost out over $50.00 dollars because of your bad information.
So Fakeblades.com, are you going to change your statistics? you say that over 80% of blades purchased from ebay are fake! That makeS it about 80% of the blades purchase from walgreens and walmart are fake to????
CAN YOU PLEASE EXPLAIN THIS FAKEBLADES.COM BECAUSE WE WOULD ALLLLLLLLLLL LIKE TO KNOW WHAT YOU HAVE TO SAY TO THIS…….

Not ALL Gillette Fusion Phenom blades have serial numbers, I have learned. I was very concerned when mine arrived without the serial #s, but then read the many comments here about authentic Gillettes with no serial #.
I contacted Gillette, who state that blades may or may not have a serial # on them, and may have them in a place where you would have to destroy the blade to see it.
SOME people need to use more discernment and more common sense before going all haywire… I compared the photos here and on the sites that have links from here. The build quality of what I received is excellent, the color is a la Gillette, the packaging… in other words, all indicators are that my blades are authentic.
Except for the serial number. Conclusion: not all of them have the serial number that is indicated here (on this site). That would be an improvement to make to the site, but apart from that, this site has allowed me to determine that my blades are good.
What I bought:
* Fusion Power Phenom (handle, battery, 4 blades, blister pack)
* $20 US, more or less per pack, bought 5
Why I suspect authenticity:
* Best shave I have had in decades (moved up from Mach 3 with battery)
* Packaging excellent (real foil, no typos, solid)
* Cartridge case deep orange, well constructed
* Gillette branding everywhere (right typeface, excellent stamping)
* Blade hold-downs solid
* Blade “circles” appear as genuine Gillette shown here
* Machining for blade lock is precise and works well
* (only one shave yet but) lube strip intact, solid, holding up
* packaging had labels removed or cut out (liquidator removed former retailer labelling, very common in liquidation; could be bankrupt, overstock, close-out, end of line)
* price was good but not ridiculous
Codes:
Handle Y03 083 (or inverted C80)
Blade cartridge D 28 and 52 C
UPC 047400 044579 (Gillette will not comment on their UPCs)
The eBay seller is dealeur (Sherbrooke, Quebec), runs a brick and mortar liquidation operation. I requested and got same-day shipping, arrived next day, well packaged. This seller charges taxes to Canadians and provides the government codes that are required for this.

A couple of other thoughts, reading more of the guestbook entries. According to Time magazine, these over-priced blade cartridges are the single-most shoplifted item in North America. Many years ago, I used to buy Gillettes from a guy who always had them around, cheap. I figure they were shoplifted.
In Quebec, where I live most of the time, things that fell off of trucks are for sale everywhere, flea markets, etc. Big business here. I got from a liquidator (appears to be genuine liquidation stuff, but maybe stolen).
You would also expect to find shoplifted genuine Gillette products on eBay. I would anyway. These would be authentic.
I have sold for customers who have piles of shopaholic stuff, all expensive, all perfect, all expensive retail stuff, some past expiry date. Some folks buy all kinds of stuff they don’t need, then sell it off cheap. Some of what I have sold on eBay is genuine name-brand, gone cheap, just because somebody can’t stop themself from shopping.
A site like this is a good spot to inform one’s self. Too bad the venue also attracts hot-heads, the ill-informed, the uninformed, and those with vested interests.

fka 1porschegirl
Hi,
I’ve been selling Gillette razors on eBay and on my website for a couple years now. I used to go by the name 1porschegirl on eBay but my former partner now runs that account herself, without me. I wrote many blogs and guides about fake razors. My blogs and guides on eBay have helped (just like fakeblades.com) expose many fake razor blade sellers, and one of my earliest blogs is linked to at the top of this page. This site, as well as my guides and other people’s guides have really helped inform consumers of the counterfeit razors problem, much more so than Gillette has ever done themselves.
To Randy and Edward who posted recently (above):
Until around the beginning of 2008, ALL Gillette Fusion and Fusion Power cartridges included serial numbers. In early 2008, Gillette stopped putting serial numbers on every cartridge.
I confirmed with Gillette Customer Service (in the USA) last month that many Fusion and Fusion Power blades are produced without serial numbers today. I also confirmed this information much earlier in the year with Gillette factory workers who are directly involved in the manufacturing of the Gillette Fusion and Fusion Power blades. So to sum up, as I understand it, Gillette has stopped putting serial numbers on the cartridges, and the Customer Service says they “may or may not have serial numbers” since older stock on store shelves today probably does still have serial numbers.
The information on fakeblades.com needs to be updated to reflect this change in Gillette’s manufacturing process. I updated my eBay guide on Counterfeit Fusion Power razor blades last April or thereabouts, however there are many people who still erroneously believe “if there are no serial numbers then the blades are fake.” I had a few customers who did not believe me, but this is a fact. You can call Gillette yourself and confirm it.
Another comment to Randy above. Certainly Gillette Razor Blades (and things like Duracell/Energizer batteries) are among the “hottest” shoplifted items in America (and Europe) because of their small size and relatively high price and normally lax security in the type of stores that sell these items. In some stores (notably CVS drug stores) I have seen “dispenser machines” for Gillette razors that make a lot of noise when you get a pack of razors out (I suppose so that the store workers will put their eyes towards that area of the store, however I doubt these machines are that effective at preventing shoplifting in a busy store).
There are, I would guess, dozens (or hundreds or thousands over the years) of sellers who have sold shoplifted yet genuine razor blades on eBay, however, they are not going to ever have the type of quantity that fake sellers sell (case upon case, week after week). So of course, you can buy razor blades from a smaller seller on eBay (but it’s a crapshoot whether they will be real or not).
There are a few “big sellers” who somehow manage to obtain and sell large quantities of the real thing, too,, but these are few and far between and I still caution buyers to be very careful and to scrutinize the seller’s feedback and most importantly, to try the razor blades before leaving any feedback.
About one year ago, I subscribed to Terapeak.com’s Marketplace Research Tool, which allows a person to analyze closed eBay auctions quite thoroughly. Since I was a seller on eBay.co.uk (England’s eBay) that’s what I examined and what I found was that my sales made up over 30% of the total sales of Gillette Fusion Power razor blades at the time. My four closest competitors (who sold between 7-20% of the marketshare each) all were sellers of fake blades. The top two, ironfloor80 and another who had multiple names (”savings_here” & “got_your_needs” & “nice…guy”), both of whom have been mentioned on fakeblades.com as sellers of fakes (above by “anon” on February 5 and 18, 2008), and I confirmed it personally that they were selling fakes by getting a friend to order an 8pack from each of them and checking them myself).
So, I still believe that the majority of blades sold on eBay are fake, as I alerted eBay to these fake sellers and eBay was very unresponsive for quite some time (although eventually they did stop all of those sellers (or the sellers just stopped on their own after getting so many negative feedbacks).
This site does still serve a very important purpose but should be updated with accurate information (because a lot of (I would guess most) people would not read through 150+ comments on this comment page to discover that not all genuine blades have serial numbers).

Hi, i have bought Mach3 blades 2 times from Ebay, and both were FAKE! Unluckily these counterfeit sellers have %100 feedback.
I believe most of the Mach3 blades are FAKE on Ebay and PLEASE try the blades before leaving feedback!

PLEASE use follow-up comments on eBay to warn potential buyers about the Counterfeit Sellers…

OK. I just purchased an 8 pack of Fusion blades from a 3rd party seller on Amazon.com called HotDealz. I knew after my first shave they were fakes. I didn’t need a serial number as I had used Fusions since they came out. This was the first time I tried to save money on them using an online retailer. I tried an alternate blade from the packet and it was as dull as the first. The moisture strip was fake too and didn’t do anything or ever fade. I contacted the seller who offered to refund my money after I sent them back. I sent them back and still left the seller a 3 star review warning that the blades were fakes. The seller then retaliated by leaving me a bad buyer review and telling me via email to “go play in traffic.” So the problem appears rampant and not just on eBay. I sent an email to Proctor and Gamble, but I doubt they will do anything.

Hi all,
I have read some of your comments and i find it some what quiet amusing! Now i have been a wholesaler on ebay for quite some time, and i have also sold the blades to which you are referring too. I have never had a complaint or negative feedback from anyone of my clients and i have sold thousands of these products. The big question is this you are all after a bargain correct!? And lets be honest if they were real and genuine and from gillette the whole world would be selling them! The problem is major corp companies like gillette who gladly refund you all, is due to the fact they have been making billions of you for the past god knows who many years! Fusion blades £19 for 8 its a rip off, even more so when they are being produced for less than a couple of pounds!
If the price from gillette was cheaper problem resolved! but you all want to buy the bulk cheap bargains!! Some of the fakes are in fact a very very good match like the ones i purchased. you make less mark up but you get zero come back! Now if gillette would see to me wholesale id buy 10’s of thousands of them and list them daily but they wont as they are aware they dominate the market place and quite frankly don’t care about robbing their consumers ie all of you on a daily basics! hence why you got P.O paying big money for them!! Even the guy who created this site was trying to buy cheap blades, hence the site!! Some people simply cannot afford to buy the blades but the fakes are a very good option and they are happy using them! im not saying its right to sell them but if major companies allowed proper sellers like myself to buy their product wholesale we would!!

Hi,
in 2006 I got scammed.. I bought 4 packages of M3 cartridges
from patj1982 (patwilliams18@eircom.net) Patrick Williams . I believe
the user has changed id but ebay reports the email as still active
but won’t give the new id.
It took me a couple of month before the shipment to begin
using the new cartridges and.. they did surely hurt! I thought of a bad production run and tried the second package…. I eventually tossed them all in the garbage can.
I think at that time I did not even realized I’ve been scammed..

I also purchased some 32 or 40 blades a couple of months ago on eBay, which ended up being fake. At this point, I do not remember the seller’s name, but I took a photo for visual comparison of a genuine Mach 3 blade and a fake one. You can see that the only difference is the colour of the bottom strip (blue vs. grey) and the size of indentations along each blade.

I asked an ebay Mach3 blade seller this . . .
Dear marcsales1000,
Can you guarantee these blades are not counterfeit? Have they got Gillette stamped into the base of the blade? Will you post this query and your answer onto the auction please. rgds Roger
His reply was . . . .
I dont know never opened a pack. I just buy them in and resell them. But if unsure dont buy that is my only advice.
I didn’t buy and suggest everyone treats these guys with extreme caution.

I just bought 8 fusion power blades from a guy on ebay. I think they may be fake. I noticed two things specifically.
1. The dots on the metal part of the blade are circular and smaller than the dots that are on the other fusion blades I have at home and the pics from your site. Are those dots significant?
2. The back of the plastic where the blades are held into the plastic are different than the other blades I have at home.

Actually did a dispute via paypal and got a refund immediately. I left him decent feedback because of the quick refund, but put info about the fake in the notes.

Jeff
So this is the feedback I left him: “Seller was great. Product was fake, but he resolved the issue immediately.”. Since he refunded me.
He sent me an email in ebay saying “Is there any way you can erase the feedback you left me? I was going to stop selling the blades I got from the supplier who gave me the fake blades, but with the feedback you left me I am going to have trouble selling anything in the future, as I am going to look like a fraudulent seller, even though its “positive” feedback.”
Should I change it? It looks like he is still selling blades on ebay. He only had 11 feedback right now. seller’s name is putiger78.
I guess I have no way of knowing if other blades he is selling are fake, or maybe I can ask him to remove the fake blades off ebay, but I doubt he will comply.
Any ideas?

Ebay listing was for “40 PCS New Razor Cartridges Blades for G Mach3 Turbo” by seller ID cage_888.
He is a seller out of Hong Kong, according to the original listing, but ships from Shanghai:
Pan Wenjie (Paypal name is in Chinese 潘 闻捷)
Zhongshan rainbow four village 300, room 601
Sungchiang Province, Shanghai, 201620, China
He took down the listing shortly after payment, in his feedback page all the items are PRIVATE, and the bid history is also PRIVATE. He still lists under the same title, and I wanted to contact/message the current bidders, but I am unable to do so because they’re all private.
Please do not buy ANY razor blades from sellers in China.
I bought the item for $25, but the return shipping back to China will cost $27.95. Paypal requires a tracking number in order to issue a refund, but the ONLY international mail service that offers tracking/delivery confirmation is Express International. USPS says, “Note: Tracking is not available for Priority Mail International Flat Rate Envelopes or Priority Mail International Small Flat Rate Boxes.” I don’t think I will be spending $27.95 to get back $25.
These fake blades give you an awful shave. The first stroke will be VERY rough and different, especially for those who have used Gillette products for a long time (7 years myself).
Whatever you do, stay away from China-based sellers!! Only if I had found this site earlier…. thanks to all of you who contribute and to the staff of fakeblades.
